As a devout young man in Texas, Chris Tomlin grew up and proceeded to keep his conviction in his heart. He was a master in prayer and a youth speaker at numerous gatherings throughout the parish. Through composing songs with a single purpose, to get people closer to Heaven, he expressed his religious experiences.

“Building a career is just fine,” he said, “but nothing compares to building bridges through music that lead to hope, healing and higher ground.” He first launched his solo effort, “The Noise We Make” nationally in 2001, but he dropped three albums well before that.

I want to write songs that people sing to God. With a three-minute pop album, there’s nothing wrong, but I want the church to be unique with these songs. There’s more of a laser emphasis on that than ever,”I want to write songs that people sing to God. There’s nothing wrong with a three-minute pop song, but I want these songs to be special to the church. There’s more of a laser focus on that than ever,”

Chris was very active in producing albums within one to two years, never more than that, throughout his years-long career. In 2004, when his album “Arriving” earned Platinum certification, he got his first big break. It charted on the Billboard Top Christian Albums at No. 6 and on the Hot 200 at No. 39.
He climbed two years later to No. 1 on the Christian Albums list and No. 15 with “See in the Morning” on the all-genre album chart. Two more chart-busting attempts, “Hello Love” (2008) and “Glory in the Highest: Christmas Songs of Worship” preceded the Gold-certified CD (2009).

A year after marrying Lauren Bricken, in 2011, Chris again dominated the Christian Albums list with “And If Out God Is for Us…” and ranked at No. 17 on Hot 200. A year after marrying Lauren Bricken. In the same years, when Billboard Hot Christian Songs reigned with its single “I Lift My Hands” he tasted a double glory. He was also celebrating the birth of Ashlyn Alexandra Tomlin, his baby.
In 2011, he took a break to release a new record, but he managed to deliver a compilation CD of his most “Essential Collection.” After a long hard work, he was eventually recognised for having the Best Christian Music Album Contemporary at the Grammy Awards in 2012.

With another widely praised record, Burning Stars, he is planning to follow up on his Grammy victory. “I think what we try to do is keep the songs simple. Not try to overdo anything or overproduce anything but keep the songs that need to have some energy to them really fun and keep some of the beauty as well.”I think holding the songs simple is something we are aiming to do. Don’t try to overdo anything or overproduce something, but keep the songs very pleasant and keep some of the beauty that need to have some love for them.
